Chiara Cattelan, MD is a paediatrician and a child psychiatrist. She is a Training and Supervising Psychoanalyst and a Child and Adolescent Psychoanalyst at the Italian Psychoanalytic Society where she is part of the Child and Adolescent Training Committee. She has been the hed of the Child Psychiatry Unit of Women and Child Health Department at Padua University where she has organized a consultation service for the assessment and early intervention for autistic children and their parents. She is a member of INSPIRA (International Symposium for Psychoanalytic Interregional Research on Autistic States Disorders). She has benefited from supervision with Frances Tustin from 1982 to 1993. She works in private practice in Venice, Italy with children, adolescents, and adults. Her main areas of interest include primitive mental states, early development of the mind, autistic functioning in children and adults, as well as questions concerning body-mind. She has written about these issues as the author of numerous papers and a co-author of books.
