Josien Gussenhoven is a training psychoanalyst of the Dutch Psychoanalytic Society who works with adolescents and adults in Holland, in different cultures. She worked for 10 years in polyclinical services and has been in private practice for 30 years. After graduating from the University of Amsterdam, she first taught psycholinguistics and children’s development of speech. In the transition from teacher to psychotherapist and then to psychoanalyst she experienced the reliving of the child in the grown up as the core of the analytic relationship and experience. She was supervised by Joyce Mc Dougall, Judith Mitrani, Maria Rhode and Rachel Blass, took part in intervision-groups throughout Europe and values long-lived readings groups of the work of Melanie Klein, Wilfred Bion and Frances Tustin. As a member and training analyst of the Dutch Psychoanalytic Society, she founded a working group on Frances Tustin in Holland. She teaches on narcissism and her focus in her supervisions is on the autistic core and on primitive mental states. From January 1 st , 2022 Josien has become a board member of The Frances Tustin Memorial Trust.
